ABOUT SAVANNAH
PHOTOGRAPHY
GROUP
Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Savannah.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Savannah Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

The course w/Julia was different than I expected; however, it pushed me out of my comfort zone of photography. Julia is a great teacher and was able to get all students into B&W photography settings which really inspired me to stay in monochrome the rest of the day.

River St in Savannah has a European feel to it so I enjoy doing street photography there. I did multiple shots while the woman was seated, alone. I waited for some more human interest and luckily for me, the couple with their dog happened by. As with most of my street photography, I used a Nikon Z7 wide open with a 24-70 f4 lens set at 24mm.

I've made more than 100 day trips to Charleston. It's a two hour drive from my hometown of Savanna. I go for long walks in the historic district and the city is always fascinating. This shot was taken late in the day on King Street

We live in Blue Ridge and own a second home on Tybee Island. We spend the month of January at Tybee every year and I have had this image in my mind for many years, but have never had the right conditions. Finally last week we had dense fog for several days and I found the conditions to be perfect. Knowing that fog can come and go quickly, I rushed down to the viewpoint where Cockspur Lighthouse stood. Unfortunately the fog was too thick and I couldn't even see the lighthouse. After patiently wai

After shooting multiple images, I chose the one with the most interesting colors in the background. In Photoshop I created a radial blur in Zoom mode... I thought it worked well for this image. Thanks for requesting one of my photos.

Working on trying new things! Plucked this Puff out of my front yard flower bed. Used a small compact mirror to create the shot using natural daylight thorough the window. As a deep space photographer, I like to take photos of outer space targets that our eyes cannot see. These photos require a lot of patience and a lot of clear nights reason why my telescopes are working almost every night when it isn't cloudy. Astrophotography is very different from all the other types of photography, a single photo sometimes requires tens of hours under the clear night sky but the result is very satisfying. In this photo, I would like to present to you the California Nebula

This is part of a huge street art display, a real gem in Leeds. I loved the different displays of hands walking, creates a real sense of movement and intrigue. Photo was taken around 11am. The light you see shining on the hand is from a wall light. Camera setting - F4.2, 1/400 shutter and ISO 200.
